Every year, this is my favorite post to make. 2018 was Photography by Brea’s official 8th year in business, and it makes me super emotional to think that our tenth year is just around the corner. This accidental business became the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I can think of very few other jobs that are so emotionally fulfilling. There’s nothing quite like this. To be invited into someone’s world for some of the most intimate moments of their lives… to be trusted to not only witness their emotional vulnerability but to capture it… wow. That’s something.
In my life, I feel most fulfilled and most alive when I feel connected and present. This job allows me to do that every weekend of the year. When we’re with our clients, it never feels like work.
This year we photographed dozens of sunrises and sunsets, loads of four legged friends and some party bunnies, our first wedding in the dark… outside… with no lighting – and it killed it!, two beautiful two day weddings with both American and Indian ceremonies, an intimate Monday wedding brought from Montana to grandpa, an elegant Harry Potter wedding – where it felt like we were at a formal event in the Wizarding World, lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of rain, a few day in the life family sessions, a family session in Hawaii, and so much more.
Narrowing down highlights from an amazing year of 33 weddings, and tons of portrait sessions was no small feat. But here’s a small sampling of our favorites from 2018. All photos in this post are taken by either me or Tommy.

Peace out, 2018.
ahhhh, what an amazing year you have had!
Wow!!! So much beauty, fun, happiness, love, joy, and life happening in these images!! Beautifully captured, all of it!! Can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for you!!
I always follow your work throughout the year, but it’s neat to see the faves all in one place. Such a colorful and fun collection of moments and ART…. I feel like you’ve really hit your stride. It’s so awesome, I’m wondering how you are possibly going to top this in 2019?!?
Your techniques and your artistry continue to evolve, Brea! As I’ve followed the work you (and now Tommy) are doing since you photographed Katie and Jim in 2014, I am more convinced than ever that your gift is capturing moments, not events. You step in to peoples’ lives and you care about what they care about most. And then you capture it – to be cherished forever. That is a very special gift indeed!
