Friday, January 18th, 2013 was a very special day. It was a day about second chances. Gina and Doug have overcome so much in their lives to get where they are today, and their wedding day was a celebration of not only their marriage, but so much more. It was truly an honor to be a part of their wedding day. The pair said their vows in a beautiful ceremony at St. Leo’s church in Little Italy and had a family-dinner style reception at Chiapparelli’s.
Along with the excitement of the day, I was also really looking forward to this wedding as a creative challenge. I arrived at the house where the girls were getting ready shortly before sunset, which means this entire wedding occurred after dark, and everything was photographed with artificial lighting. I don’t tend to use flash for anything outside of the reception since most of my weddings occur during daylight hours. I was very excited for this challenge and thrilled how the images turned out!
I started off at the DeLauney’s house (Gina is Dominic’s sister!) to capture the girls getting ready.
Gina’s dress is so beautiful! I love the red accents.
Gina wore the pearls that her mother wore on her wedding day as her something old.
I love this special moment between Mother and Daughter.
While I was with the girls, my assistant for the day, Jennifer Lynn, was with the guys! I’m sure y’all recognize my favorite little man, Buddah!
Then it was off to St. Leo’s for a beautiful ceremony. Buddah was the coolest ring bearer ever!! I love his headset and badge. Do you recognize the photo on the badge? I took that at his momma’s wedding to his step-dad Dom!
Deacon Kevin gave a beautiful ceremony. He was a lot of fun!
Simeone Tartaglione and Alessandra Cuffaro, very dear and talented friends to Gina’s family, provided the beautiful ceremony music.
Following the ceremony we did some family formals and bridal party photos inside the church. Look at how beautiful Gina and her mom, Mary Jean are!
Afterward, during the walk to the reception, I had the bridal party stop and get a few photos with the Little Italy lights. It was freezing out so I really appreciate everyone being troopers!
The reception at Chiapparelli’s was like a big family dinner. There was no band or DJ. Just good food, great company, and lots of love. At each of the tables, there were fishbowls filled with candy.
The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful.
There were heart-filled speeches…
…and even a joke, where the bride had her father cut her salad. When she was younger, she always had him cut her salad for her and her mother always joked that she would even have him do it on her wedding day. Of course, she did. :)
Thank you to Doug, Gina, and your entire family for having me as a part of your day and treating me like family. It was such a special day and I love you all!
