June + Joe | Jerusalem Mill Engagement Session

June and Joe are an especially incredible couple. Not only have both of them decided to serve our country through the US Army, but they are two of the most fun, most in love people I’ve ever met. You may recognize them from Pauliina & Keith‘s wedding this April. June and Pauliina went to nursing school together and were looking for a wedding photographer around the same time. June met with me first and after Skyping with her and Joe they decided that they had to have me shoot their wedding. (…and I picked them right back!) At Pauliina & Keith’s wedding, Joe joked with Keith about hiring their photographer after them but getting married first ;)

June and Joe are getting married this December at the Vandiver Inn, and after their session last Thursday I’m sad that I have to wait so long to see them again! We had a lot of fun and I loved hanging out with them during their session. I love these two and this session is definitely one of my new favorites!

We started off by the water at Jerusalem Mill. One of the benefits of having shot here so many times is that I know where the light disappears from first as it gets later in the evening. This was also the first time I had such gorgeous light peeking through the trees down by the creek! I was very excited to take advantage of it.

Isn’t June stunning? She’s going to make such a gorgeous bride.

We got a few shots in this field before we nearly got run over by a haymaker (whoops!) and decided to head to other areas of the Jerusalem Mill Village and come back later.

Asking them to kiss was not an issue. They’re a very affectionate couple– which makes my job so much easier :)

They brought their jerseys (opposing teams no less!) and whipped them out for a few photos.

This one just cracks me up. Especially the haymaker photobomb. June, remember that he has a longer reach than you on the wedding day. If you guys decide to smash cake in each other’s faces after the cutting, make sure you move quickly or you’ll end up with a nose-full of cake and will miss him completely. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything…
