I heart Katie. Majorly majorly heart Katie. Katie became a fan of my work after seeing Taylor and Nick’s wedding last year and her decision to use me for her future wedding was solidified when I did Dana and Shane’s engagement session. We first talked in September of 2012 about me possibly coming down to Norfolk to photograph her then boyfriend’s homecoming from deployment. He ended up coming home early and surprising her so it didn’t work out. Before he left again, he proposed and they officially had a wedding to plan! We talked on Skype and by the end of the conversation had decided we would be BFFs by the time their wedding came.
Fast forward to August 4th, I finally get to meet Jim… and Katie’s mom, Jim’s parents, siblings, and basically all of the bridal party minus one or two. I couldn’t love this whole group more! I feel more like an old friend than a hired vendor for their wedding and I just can’t wait to see it all unfold.
This Saturday we got together again for their engagement session and I got to spend a good chunk of my morning with Katie and Jim. We explored the naval academy, downtown Annapolis, and finished the morning by having delicious Crepes for breakfast. These two are so fun, so in love and so perfect for each other and I can’t wait for their wedding next year!
We started off at the Naval Academy right at sunrise. We had a beautiful morning and I couldn’t have been more excited as a photographer ;)
It was extra fun for me because normally with engagement sessions I only have the engagement ring, but here I had both of their school rings to work with too!
They had noticed the boat “commitment” on a previous visit and had marked it as a must have spot for photos. I love how appropriate this is!
Aren’t they so cute?
Katie is too pretty for her own good.
It was time for an outfit change and to head down to the docks in Annapolis. I love this whole series and the bright morning light!
Katie + Jim, you guys are the best and I can’t wait to see you again! I’m sure we will many more times before the big day! :)
