Katherine + Mike | The Belvedere, Baltimore, Maryland Wedding

December 11, 2013 Katherine + Mike | The Belvedere, Baltimore, Maryland Wedding

At the end of November I had the pleasure of working with Rachel Smith Photography on yet another stunning Baltimore wedding. Katherine and Mike were wed in a beautiful ceremony at St. Ignatius church in Baltimore with their reception at the Belvedere. This was my first time shooting at either location and I certainly hope it’s not the last. Both the church and the reception site were jaw-droppingly beautiful. My day started off at St. Ignatius where I met Mike and hung out with him until his lovely bride arrived. 2013-12-08_0125 2013-12-08_0126 2013-12-08_0127Guys being guys… checking the scores for the last time before the wedding.2013-12-08_0128I love this portrait of Mike in front of the stained glass window.2013-12-08_0129 2013-12-08_0130 2013-12-08_01312013-12-08_0133 2013-12-08_0134 2013-12-08_0135After the ceremony we headed to the Belvedere for some bridal party and bride and groom photos before the reception kicked off!2013-12-08_0136 2013-12-08_0137 2013-12-08_0138 2013-12-08_0140 2013-12-08_01392013-12-08_0142 2013-12-08_0143Right after their cake cutting, Mike explained the story behind their wordy wedding cake. He had proposed to Katherine with a cake – which he had requested to have a simple question written on it, “Katherine, Will you marry me?” Well, as it turned out, when he went to pick up the cake it said instead “Katherine, You will marry me.” Not exactly the ideal way to pop the question. After some going back and forth with the bakery employees trying to explain why this wouldn’t work, he finally got them to understand what he was going for and remedied the writing on the cake. It all worked out and she said yes! And so they felt it was only fitting to also have writing on their wedding cake.2013-12-08_0144 2013-12-08_0145 2013-12-08_0146I love this shot of the room with the amazing sunset out of the window. It took me a few tries to get the lighting balanced right for this one. Well worth the effort, I’d say :)2013-12-08_01472013-12-08_0149The couple entered the reception to a perfectly executed choreographed first dance!2013-12-08_0150 2013-12-08_0151 2013-12-08_0152 2013-12-08_0153And after some hilarious and touching speeches it was time to party!2013-12-08_0154… and party they did!2013-12-08_0155 2013-12-08_0156 2013-12-08_0157 2013-12-08_0158 Congratulations to Katherine and Mike and thanks again as always to Rachel for having me along!
