This Baltimore Basilica + Royal Sonesta Baltimore wedding may be one of the best weddings ever. From the awesome couple to their fantastic family and friends, from the gorgeous venue to the beautiful weather, everything was perfect. Once you see the photos, I think you’ll agree!
The Couple
Cara and Nick met in June 2010 as pediatric interns at the University of Michigan. They started as friends and Cara was initially convinced Nick was interested in another of their classmates, what with Nick hanging around their work room all of the time. It was Cara who had caught Nick’s eye the whole time! Since their first date later that year, they’ve been inseparable, even when placed across the country for their pediatric fellowships. They’re finally in the same city and finally married–what could be better than that?
Cara and Nick’s love for travel has played an important part in their love story. They booked their most recent trip to Italy over a year in advance with moving-in together not far off on the horizon. Cara wasn’t expecting a proposal in the midst of all of those big life events, but Nick had other ideas. For their trip to Italy, Nick was planning the perfect proposal with a picnic lunch at the Piazzale Michelangelo.
When it came down to the day, however, Cara had other activities in mind. Nick had to think quickly during their sunset walk up to the Piazzale among the throngs of people. With some luck and patience, Nick finally saw his chance when they found themselves on a secluded wooded path away from the crowds. Cara scrambled up ahead and when she turned back for Nick, she saw him on one knee. Cara says he had a lovely, romantic speech, but all she remembers is saying yes and jumping into his arms. Because Nick had to change his plans, they did dinner on the fly too. To celebrate, they ended up at “Mr. Pizza” eating off of paper plates and drinking red wine out of plastic cups. I love this story so much because it perfectly combines Cara and Nick’s taste for adventure and their ability to appreciate the simple things and each other.
The Wedding
What a crazy-fun day for some crazy-fun people! Cara and Nick are my Hamilton buddies and the only people I know who are as obsessed with the show as I am. We really bonded over their engagement session earlier this year. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun we had being goofy and ridiculous all day. There was love and laughter and good times had by everyone. It all rocked–game over.
There were more fun and interesting surprises throughout the night that speak to Cara and Nick’s openness to connect with others and be themselves. Ethan, Cara’s nephew, stole the show all throughout the day with his adorable antics. He loves his AC and Unca Nick. A random photographer wandering Baltimore stopped to exchange photo opportunities with us. He took photos of us, and we snapped a few of him too! We even got to pose with some dinosaurs. (Fun fact: Did you know that new findings have scientists saying that dinosaurs actually made a sound more like a quack or a coo rather than a roar? Pretty cool.) It’s hard for me to put into words just how excited I am to share pieces of Cara and Nick’s incredible day. I couldn’t be happier for these two amazing people!

The story of Nick and Cara was wonderful and the pictures were great.
Could they be any cuter?! I mean seriously, I don’t know if I’ve seen a wedding where the bride and groom look like they’re having more fun than that. They chose the perfect photographer to capture their fun personalities :)
Cara and Nick look like they are so much fun!! You did a great job capturing their personalities. I love the photo with the dinosaur bones!
