Andrew and Melissa were married this past weekend at the Park Hyatt in DC and it was an amazing day for two incredibly kind, wonderful people.
The Couple
From the couple: “We met online 2011 (Well before dating apps on your phone existed!) and dated for a couple years. I had pink eye on our first date (I had called Andrew to cancel due to my pink eye but he still wanted to go on the date with me!). He wore a pink shirt “in honor of your pink eye”, he told me.
We dated for a couple years and I even thought that he was the person I was going to marry. We were both young and not ready, however, and ended up breaking up for almost 5 years. We got back together in 2017, and knew very quickly that we were each other’s ‘person’ :-)
Although we had already decided we wanted to get married prior to the actual proposal, he proposed to me at the airport when I had just come back home on a flight. He pulled up to pick me up, jumped out of the car, and got down on one knee in the rain!”
The Wedding
Andrew and Melissa’s wedding at the Park Hyatt in DC was absolutely amazing and I’m so thankful they were a part of our final weekend of weddings to wrap up what was a truly special year. Both Melissa and Andrew care deeply about their families – and it was incredible to watch all of the love surrounding them throughout the entire day. Weddings are such a unique experience – where everyone you love is in the same room – and this day made me really feel how incredibly special that experience really is. From Melissa’s grandmother holding her hand, gushing over how beautiful she was while they got their hair done, to Andrew calling Melissa while they were getting ready – starting the call off by telling her he couldn’t wait to marry her, to heartfelt speeches from their siblings… there was no shortage of love to go around. Here is just a small sampling of their day.
