Last year, I had the honor of photographing Holleigh and Mike’s intimate wedding at Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace. A couple of months ago we finally did their engagement session – if you can still call it that, considering they’re already married. And this past weekend on the one year anniversary of their wedding last year, we finally got to celebrate with their closest friends and family – and it was epic!
The Couple
From the couple:
“The great moments of your life won’t necessarily be the things you do, they’ll also be the things that happen to you. Now, I’m not saying you can’t take action to affect the outcome of your life, you have to take action, and you will. But never forget that on any day, you can step out the front door and your whole life can change forever. You see, the universe has a plan kids, and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It’s a scary thought but it’s also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working, making sure that you end up exactly where you’re supposed to be, exactly when you’re supposed to be there. The right place at the right time.”
Although over the course of their lives, Michael and Holleigh were always near and never far from each other, with mutual friends and attending the same high school and college, it wasn’t until they finally met one day while at work at the printer. Holleigh was scanning 100+ pages for an assignment, which was conveniently located next to Mike’s desk. Mike decided to “print” the *same* page 4-5 times just so he could say hi to Holleigh. From that point forward, it was subtle “hellos” in the hall.
One night, the bridesman, Tony, invited Holleigh out to a group get together. At this same event, another mutual friend attending the same get together invited Mike out. It was a neat coincidence where both Mike and Holleigh were coincidentally near — again. They couldn’t stop thinking of each other. They fell in love in Baltimore, MD frequenting Fort McHenry, Camden Yards, and Wiley Gunters.
We have a running joke where our lives always ran parallel to each others but never intersected until the right moment, similar to the show “How I Met Your Mother”. To quote the show: “It’s funny how sometimes you just find things.”
The Wedding
Holleigh and Mike’s wedding celebration this past weekend was anything but ordinary. Holleigh wore her wedding gown that she didn’t get to wear last year, and mere minutes after their first look, it started raining. She, being the coolest bride ever, was just like “eh, whatever, this is cool,” took a sip of her beer and kept going with family photos. Weather wise this day was wild. We were treated to not one but two rainbows – both documented in this post, torrential downpours, and wild misty fog at the end of the night. The party itself was a blast, just a gathering of the people they loved most hanging out, drinking good beer, and the one thing Holleigh really wanted – playing flip cup. Here are just some of my favorites from this weekend.
