Weddings

Genevieve and Alanah’s wedding this past weekend was one of the most special that I’ve ever been a part of, and will remain in my heart forever.

The Couple

From the brides: “To be quite honest, the best part of our love story was not how we met. The best parts have been the adventures that we’ve had along the way!

“From camping and hitchhiking our way across the Virgin Islands and seeing magical nights and starry skies (and not showering for a week) to more refined trips through the Loire Valley (discovering that Alanah does in fact like red wine, they just have expensive French taste); to biking across the dykes of Amsterdam, charging at windmills like literary characters; to roaming the craggy cliffs of Scotland and visiting centuries old castles; and a cross-country road trip across the United States!

“The adventures don’t stop there. Because even when trapped at home alone during the pandemic, it was still an adventure. We created memories together through domestic travel… To beautiful Maine, where we got engaged on a sailboat on the ocean with seals as our witnesses and supporters. To the Appalachian Mountains for every New Years, ringing in each rotation of the sun with each other amongst the quiet reverie of the forest. And adventures that we made for each other by playing Dungeons & Dragons and telling each other stories… Finding joy in the little things that we could provide for each other.

“Our life together is beautiful and sacred. We have always said that we love each other the way we want to be loved — a testament to the way life provides obstacles and opportunities to grow and show the world what we hold most dear. Unlike many other people, our wedding does not signify the start of a new chapter or the beginning of a book, but rather the beautiful rising action, which has been preceded by wonderful, exciting, and even frightening moments and will still be followed by many more to come.”

The Wedding

I love my job because of the people that come into my life through it. But I also love it because I’m given the opportunity to witness and observe intimate moments in other peoples’ lives – preserving them carefully and presenting them back, with my own love for them intertwined. From the moment that I first met with Alanah and Genevieve, I loved them. They are beautiful, exuberant, fun, deep, delightfully goofy, and authentically themselves. And they love their friends and family fiercely. Genevieve and Alanah are so uniquely special, it was such an honor to capture such a beautiful outpouring of love and support for them. As you’ll see in the photos, there was no shortage of that love. Here are just some (many…) of my favorites.

Such a fun and beautiful couple, as are their family and friends! Your photos captured all the silliness, fun, love, and emotions so beautifully. You have an eye, and an instinct, for seeing, and capturing, whether candid or composed, the most magical images. Gorgeous!!
