Weddings

Vanessa and Paul’s wedding this past weekend at The Belvedere was such a unique and beautiful celebration – and the best way to wrap up our fall crazy busy season!

The Couple

Vanessa and Paul met at the University of Maryland through mutual friends, and would see each other at parties and get togethers over three years. Soon after graduating, Paul took the bold step of asking Vanessa out on a date to play mini-golf.

Vanessa said No…

See, Paul’s timing could not have been worse (or some would even say ‘inappropriate’) when he asked her out. Thankfully, their friendship persevered past that awkward moment and continued to grow. For seven more years.

The universe (and their friends) would throw out signs that they should date. They found themselves sharing a bag while apple picking with friends, and sharing a dance at a friends’ wedding. Then Vanessa took the bold step of asking Paul out on a date to play mini-golf.

Paul said…Yes?

Though he wasn’t sure it was a date. Well, he was pretty sure but did not want to assume. After all, sometimes girls just ask boys to meet for dinner and mini-golf without inviting all their mutual friends, right?

Anyway, it was a date and a great one at that. Soon Vanessa and Paul started seeing each other more and more often, their friendship turning into a relationship. They traveled together, introduced their fur-babies to one another, and caught up on years of syndicated television together.

Eventually they moved in together. While living together they grew much, much closer as the longest Government Shutdown in history (so far) and the COVID-19 pandemic meant that they were spending A LOT of time at home. Then Paul took the bold step of asking Vanessa to marry him….

Vanessa said Yes!

The Wedding

Vanessa and Paul have a beautiful connection and relationship, they magnify each other’s light. Both are truly wonderful people individually, but together they become something even greater. Their wedding was a celebration of all of the things they love to do together. Their escort card table was an apple tree, a nod to their apple picking date mentioned above. At the bar, guests could roll a 20 sided die to pick their drink, since they love to play games. And they even had haikuists for the duration of the event. It was a lovely night with so much love. Here are just some of the highlights.
