Melissa and Nolan were married this past Saturday at the stunning Evergreen Museum and Library in Baltimore. It was the perfect end of summer garden wedding and I’m thrilled to share the highlights on the blog today!

The Couple

While Melissa and Nolan met in the Fall of 2022 at Archbishop Spalding High School where they both teach, they really hit it off through the machinations of their mutual friend, Amanda Duffy, when they and several friends went to a Harry Potter-themed night at the Maryland Science Center in September of 2023. Melissa and Nolan spent a couple hours in the planetarium, just the two of them talking, listening to the same spiel about Cassiopeia’s hair for a third time in a row before they realized that the event was almost over.

Nolan officially asked Melissa out on their first date a couple weeks later, and what was supposed to be a dinner at 6:30 at Yard House followed by a movie, turned into a dinner in which the two of them kept talking and talking until the waiter brought them the check…and they realized it was 11:55, 5 minutes to closing! They may have missed their movie, but they didn’t really mind.

Since their first date on September 23rd (the autumnal equinox – an auspicious sign!), Melissa and Nolan have continued to plan dates on the 23rds of months and find new experiences. They love to eat at some of their favorite Fell’s Point and Baltimore restaurants, and have seen four Broadway/touring musicals together. They’ve taken several trips including the big one in the summer of 2025 to Japan and Korea!

In the summer of 2025, Melissa and Nolan went for a week to Ocean City, NJ, one of Melissa’s favorite places where she grew up going to every summer. On July 30th, 2025, before his planned reservation at La Finestra Ristorante, Nolan suggested that they go down to the beach to take some pictures in their nice outfits. It was there, on the beach, that he proposed to Melissa, embarking on their newest journey together.

The Wedding

Melissa and Nolan are the sweetest and most wonderful people you’ll meet. They love their friends and family, they love their sweet babies Momo and Boo (they signed a contract, they’re going to live forever), and obviously they love each other. Being a part of their orbit for the weekend was a joy and an honor and we loved every moment of it! This wedding has it all – beautiful details, fun moments, emotional moments, an awesome dance party with giant cat heads, a few silly photos of real cats, and much more.
