Kelly and Kevin’s Maryland Zoo wedding this past weekend was SO FUN, colorful, and filled with A LOT of happy tears. I’m so excited to share the highlights on the blog today!
The Couple
From the couple: “We both attended William & Mary but only “knew of” each other – we became friends a few years after graduation when Kevin moved in with some mutual friends in DC. After lots of group hangs, we had our first kiss on the 4th of July watching fireworks from the rooftop. Over the next ten years, we fell in love, moved in together, celebrated loads of family and friends’ weddings (we’ve been to 50 weddings since we started dating – we counted!), welcomed nieces and nephews to the world, visited 23 states (plus DC and Puerto Rico!), watched all of the Fast & Furious movies more times than we can count, and realized we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
“Last December, we went into DC one morning (Kevin told me we were going to see the national Christmas tree with some friends who were visiting from out of town) and were walking around the gardens by the Smithsonian Castle, where he got down on one knee and popped the question. I said “yeah!!” – and we celebrated with hot chocolate at the National Gallery of Art’s sculpture garden!”
The Wedding
The best way to describe Kelly and Kevin’s wedding isn’t by mentioning the penguins or the parade from the ceremony to cocktail hour and back again. It’s not about the stunning colors, florals, or greenery (though they were exceptional). It’s about the love and the people.
After the wedding, I sent Kelly this message, and it still sums up how I feel:
“I love my job. Every wedding is special. It’s just the nature of the thing. Celebrating love surrounded by all the most important people in your life. There’s no way that’s not awesome. But yesterday was next level. You guys have really cultivated a community of people who don’t just like you. They ADORE you. You’ve got something really special and it was such a wonderful energy to be surrounded by the whole day. It’s something I experience once every few years ❤️”
This day was pure magic. I’m thrilled to be sharing just a small snippet of that magic on the blog today.
