Back when I was wedding planning (I make this sound like it was ages ago, ha!) I spent an embarrassingly large amount of time on theknot.com, particularly on the Destination Wedding and Hawaii boards. During those 10 months, I met some incredible ladies and I’m proud to say that many of them I’ve now met in person and consider to be real, true friends. Since “graduating” from theknot as a married woman I’ve joined a private Facebook group of former Hawaii brides. It’s been great getting to know these ladies who were on the boards before me and get to know them as well. Malia is one of these such wonderful ladies.
A few weeks ago I got a Facebook message from Malia. She asked if I would be willing to travel to Bethesda for family photos, and the answer of course was yes! Her sister was going to be in town and it would be the first time that their 8 and 9 month old babies would meet! I was thrilled to meet Malia and work with her family.
On Sunday (yes, that’s right, the day of Jackie & Andrew’s engagement session and just one day after shooting Andrea and Chad’s wedding) I met them at their house, where we started the session.
Here’s one of all of them, both sisters, their husbands, and all of the children!
After a few shots in the backyard, we took a walk to the park at the end of their street. Alexa, Malia’s daughter, held my hand the whole way there. She’s so adorable!!
I love this one where Baby Henry is peeking over Baby Athea’s shoulder :)
And here’s my favorite from the session. That light! That creamy gorgeous background! That ADORABLE baby! I want this framed as a 16×20 on my wall and it’s not even my kid!
And to wrap it up, a shot of all three kids. Alexa grabbed the babies a little forcefully and Henry’s face is hilarious but I think it adds to the cuteness factor :)
Malia, thanks for choosing me to photograph your family! The kids are adorable and all of you are just GORGEOUS!! And thank you for being so sweet and making me a hot pocket before I hit the road :)
Oh my gosh that fourth picture of the little girl is TOO CUTE!!!
Love! Love! Love! Thank you so much for squeezing us into your weekend. Your camera is magic, everywhere you pointed it you got the most beautiful shots! Thank you, Brea! Also, great to meet you in person as well. :-)
Oh my gosh, I love these!!! You are so talented Brea. I’m happy you and Malia finally got to meet.
Beautiful family. The children are precious. All wonderful photographs, the kind that will be treasured for a life time!!
PS I love your comment under one of the photos…

I feel that way about a lot of your photos. I could fill my house with photographs you have taken : )
oh my goodness!!!!! those babies are the cutest! I love how different this family session is!! Close cousins are the best- one of my cousins is only 10 months older than me.. I have a feeling we were like that when we were babies ;)
