50 years ago today, a baby girl was born. She was the youngest of three at the time, and ended up being the middle of five, the only girl among 4 brothers. As a young girl she loved horseback riding and had a pony named Moony. One day she would grow up to be a beautiful young woman and move clear across the country to California. She would live in a small studio apartment with no furniture and work at Arby’s, where she met a smug and arrogant young man, who she thought was actually kind of cute. Little did she know, that on the day she met him he decided that he would make her his wife, and one day he would succeed. Their life together in California was an adventure that they both look back on fondly as one of the best times of their lives. On a Tuesday in May, 1986, they were married in a rose garden in Balboa Park with only one other person in attendance, her now Brother-in-Law Tom.

Just a year and a half later she had a baby girl of her own. She was scared and nervous but she couldn’t have been a better mother. Even to this day, almost 25 years later, I still feel the same way.

Mom, you’re the absolute best, and I love you more than anything. You’re an amazing mom, sister, wife, daughter, and everything in between. I’m lucky to be able to not only call you my mom but my best friend :) I hope that one day I’m half as awesome as you.
