Earlier this week I posted about the sunrise Trash the Dress session I did on Sunday. I met Chelsea and Josh that same day for sunset to shoot their engagement session. Chelsea and Josh are getting married in October and the reception will be at Josh’s family’s farm. When Chelsea and I discussed their engagement session she chose her family’s farm as the location! They got engaged at Josh’s family’s farm and that’s where the reception for the wedding will be so she wanted to get a chance to get photos at her family’s farm too! My first time going to this farm was two years ago for a family session with her sister and cousin. I’ve worked with her sister’s family again since then too. One thing is for certain, everyone in this family is great!
Chelsea and Josh are one of those amazing triple threat couples. They’re gorgeous, they’re totally in love and they’re fun! What’s better than that? We drove around the farm on the gator so we could best utilize our time and the remaining sunlight. We started off by a beautiful sycamore tree on the property.
As we were heading back to the main part of the farm, I noticed the sun peeking through the trees and we got out for a few shots. I know I’ve said it before, but the golden hour is really amazing and well worth the sacrifice to get up early or shoot during dinner time!
Chelsea’s stepfather pulled out his old Studebaker so they could get some pictures with it. I couldn’t have asked for a better prop!
This is what I like to call “getting sexy” and check out that bling!
And then it was time to get a little silly, and we pretended to lock Josh in one of the stables. What’s an engagement session without a little cheesiness?
All evening the boys were following us around. The boys being Duke (left) and Jake (right), Josh and Chelsea’s dogs, respectively. They are both incredibly well behaved and of course since they are part of the family they had to be in at least one shot! Chelsea was telling me that they will both be at their reception. How fun is that?
These signs were purchased for our engagement session back in April of last year. Since then they’ve been hanging up in our kitchen next to a framed and matted photo from that session. I was pretty thrilled to get some more use out of them!
I believe this next one was a suggestion from Chris, Chelsea’s step father. He had so many great ideas (he lives there, after all!) that it all kind of blends together. Either way, it was a great idea and I would have never even known that the loft opened up like that!
Chelsea, you’re just too gorgeous!
I love these next two with the horses! We didn’t do too much with them since Chelsea is allergic so we wanted to make it quick. Despite her allergy she loves horses and wanted to get a few pictures with them regardless!
As we were finishing up and discussing the session and making sure that we got everything they wanted, they mentioned wanting to get a shot where they were walking away with Josh doing the heel click. He said he’d never done it before and wasn’t sure if he could do it. I’d say he pulled it off just fine!
These two were so much fun and I’m looking forward to their wedding in October! It will definitely be a blast and having met a good chunk of Chelsea’s family I can say for sure that it will be a great time surrounded by awesome people.
