As technology changes, it’s up to us to keep up! I always try (not to say that I succeed) to stay ahead of the curve. Years ago, Apple did away with optical drives (CD/DVD drives) in their MacBook Air computers. Now, most people who own a MacBook Air wouldn’t have it as their primary computer– but who’s to say that’s the only computer that will be without a CD or DVD drive? Apple is now offering software without installation discs through their Mac App Store. More and more people are using iPads and iPhones to keep up with friends and family and leaving their desktop computer collecting dust. Apple is not the end all be all, sure… but they tend to predict the way the market is moving, and that is away from physical media.

In keeping up with the times (and being able to offer a cute product to my clients) I present you with the new flash drives used for providing images to clients by Photography by Brea!

In an effort to be “green” I will continue to offer digital downloads to my portrait clients but for weddings and bigger events where that’s not practical, the images will be provided on these fancy little flash drives!

You can copy and back up your images to an external hard drive (please do!) and re-use this flash drive for your regular file-moving and storing needs. As with CDs and DVDs, it is recommended to always back up your images in duplicate or triplicate. DVDs and CDs will not last forever, they do lose data over time so it’s best to back up your images to several different mediums to be sure to keep them safe. Flash drives are a great alternative but even they can be lost or ruined so always, always back up your images!! As always, the best way to enjoy your professional photos is to have them printed and on display in your home!
