When it comes to weddings, sometimes things don’t go perfectly. Rain might interrupt the ceremony plan leaving you to scramble for a backup option. But you know what? Those aren’t the things that matter. What matters is love. And this wedding was overflowing with love.
Jessie and Jimmy’s wedding day started a little stressfully. We were told that the chance of rain was slim and the decision was made to hold the ceremony outside. Then came the thunder, lightning, and downpours. A last minute choice was made to get married on the stairs. It ended up being beautiful, and their ceremony is easily the sweetest I’ve ever witnessed. With an amazing poem by the Best (wo)Man, a fun reading about why love is like owning a dog by the groom’s brothers, and the sweetest, most hilarious and adorable personal vows by both the bride and groom, Jessie and Jimmy’s wedding had us laughing and crying and completely in awe of their love.
Gramercy Mansion was the perfect place for these two lovebirds, after an engagement of four years, to tie the knot. A beautiful place, cozy and full of love, on their perfect wedding day.
So many of Jessie’s accessories were family heirlooms or had other special meaning. Her necklace was a gift from her father for her 16th birthday, the earrings borrowed, the garter worn by her mother and grandmother and maybe even great grandmother? I can’t remember how far it went back, but regardless, very impressive!
Jessie also is wearing her grandmother’s engagement ring as her wedding band. I love how everything has special meaning!
Before the rain hit I had the opportunity to take Jimmy and the guys out for a few photos.
and then it was time for Jessie and the girls to get ready!
While Jessie was getting dressed, the rain came and it was time for a backup plan. Options were weighed and the choice to get married on the stairs in the mansion was made. It was beautiful. I just love Jimmy and Becca’s faces when Jessie walked down the aisle.
See? Beautiful!
The Best (wo)Man, Becca, wrote the most incredible poem that brought both laughter and tears.
The brothers read about how falling in love is like owning a dog.
…and a short blessing was given by the Maid of Honor, Beth.
Jimmy read his hilarious vows which outlined why Jessie was marrying him (his dashing good looks made it on the list twice) and why he was marrying her. It was both hilarious and sweet.
Jessie talked about why she loves Jimmy, including his smile- the real one, where he shows his teeth (which I wasn’t aware even existed until that day), and many other reasons, serious and not so serious.
I didn’t get a chance to take photos of the girls outside, but I love these shots inside! They were such an awesome group!
Such a beautiful couple- FINALLY MARRIED!!
The rain had finally stopped so we went out for some soggy outdoor portraits. I’m so glad we did!
During dinner there were two very sweet speeches by the Best (wo)Man and Maid of Honor.
… and they kicked off the dance floor by having their first dance to The Darkness’ “I Believe in a Thing Called Love”
They cut the cake…
..and were so sweet…
…wait WHAT?! BOOM.
Jessie and Jimmy, I loved being a part of your day and getting to know you two! Your wedding was so special and I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it! Congratulations!!

These are so beautiful! Rain is never fun on a wedding day, but it looks like it didn’t put a damper on this day! I love that they got married on those beautiful stairs and that you were able to get them back outside for some portraits. What a cute couple!
you captured this wedding so beautifully! the couple looks SO happy and in love. i am lovinggggg those last outdoor shots- so gorgeous!!
These are so sweet! I feel like the vibe of Gramercy goes perfectly with a rainy day, even if it wasn’t quite what they had in mind. Great job on the staircase ceremony – such a beautiful backup plan!
Loveeeee that last night shot!! These two are adorable together! Way to rock a challenge in regards to the rain and the ceremony location (from a photography perspective that had to be hard). I love that she looks completely relaxed and calm in all of your photos – like the rain was the last thing on her mind and she was happy to just be marrying the love of her life. Because that is what the day is really about, right? Gorgeous!!
