I woke up the morning of Christina and Patrick’s wedding to the sound of torrential downpour hitting the tin roof of our house. Not exactly what you want for a wedding day. For the entirety of the day before and the morning of their wedding I was frantically checking the hourly forecast. Kent Manor Inn is such a beautiful place for a wedding and it would really be a shame to not be able to photograph outside. All but one of my weather apps (admittedly, the more accurate of the bunch – thanks Accuweather) said we had a 100% chance of rain during the time we needed to be outside for the ceremony and portraits. I packed my rain boots, a couple pairs of shoes, and a bunch of umbrellas and headed over the Bay Bridge hoping for the best.
As it turns out, Accuweather’s MinuteCast app was right. Wedding Photographer friends, if you don’t have this app on your phone, get it NOW! It’s the best for being able to get an accurate to the minute forecast to help with making decisions about ceremony and portrait locations for wedding days! The rain stopped just in time for the ceremony to take place as planned outside! The grass was a little marshy, the pier underwater, but everything ended up working out perfectly. I couldn’t have been happier. Christina and Patrick are the sweetest and I wanted the perfect day for them.
Which is exactly what they got – Christina and Patrick had such a beautiful day. There was so much incredible emotion and I teared up more than once. Though my favorite moment was watching Patrick’s face when he saw his stunning bride for the first time. There were some fun nerdy elements to the music choices – like Aeris’ Theme from Final Fantasy VII being played by Chesapeake Strings as a part of their ceremony music (and yep, I picked up on it right away), and Eyes on Me from FFVIII during dinner. Many of their friends have a background in theater and the big personalities to match! It was an incredibly fun day and truly a blast to capture it. Despite the cloud cover, we still ended up with an amazing sunset, which was the perfect way to end their perfect wedding day.
