Victor and Kaitlin’s David’s Country Inn Wedding is a new instant favorite. It’s one of those days where every single piece just came together perfectly. I’m so excited to share some of my favorites on the blog today.
The Couple
Kaitlin and Victor’s love story began in Florida many years ago. They met through mutual friends and turned a first date with a silly, unromantic movie into a very romantic relationship full of laughs that continues today. For much of their relationship, they were long distance, Kaitlin in New Jersey, and Victor in Florida — and then soon after, a shorter distance, New Jersey to Maryland. Some time after his move to Maryland, Victor worked up the courage and finally got a ring. He then devised an elaborate plan for a proposal on their 2015 family/friend labor day weekend trip to Ocean City. Victor knows Kaitlin is a highly intelligent scientist who enjoys solving puzzles so for 4 weeks straight he began to create elaborate care packages consisting of clues, snacks (that doubled as clues) and a corked bottle with a part of a treasure map covered in brain teasers for her work colleagues and her to solve. His proposal plan consisted of Kaitlin and friends playing one of the many carnival games on the Ocean City board walk to win the ring as a prize. He then went to build a bear and had a pirate themed stuffed animal made which would hold the treasure box that would hold the ring as the prize she would win in the game. She cried and said “It’s about time!” ending one of the best weekends of their lives. Shortly after the proposal Kaitlin was offered a Job in Maryland – where they were able to join their families and planned this beautiful wedding celebration.
The Wedding
If I were to wake up one morning and had to relive one day over and over like in Groundhog Day and it had to be a work day, this David’s Country Inn wedding is what I would want that day to be. I could never get sick of it. Everything about this day was perfect. Kaitlin and her friends were hilarious, adorable, enthusiastic, welcoming and warm. Jeana and I felt like we belonged right away and had a blast with them all day. Victor was so sweet and a joy to watch – from him constantly coming to the girls’ room to ask Kaitlin questions while getting ready, to witnessing the way he worships Kaitlin throughout the day with stolen glances, tender touches and smiles – and the way Kaitlin’s face always lit up in his presence. It was the most beautiful thing to witness.
When it was time for them to see each other and do their “first look,” Kaitlin had decided that she still wanted a bit of a “first touch” moment first. So when she came up to see him the first time, she held onto him and they talked for a few minutes before he was able to turn around and see her for the first time. I’ve never had a couple do this before, and it’s one of my new favorite things. It was the sweetest. Not only was the day such a joy to capture from an emotional perspective, but everything was also so incredibly beautiful. From the gorgeous historic venue to the Roaring Twenties theme, I was in photographer’s heaven.
Kaitlin and Victor, I can’t express properly how much I adore you guys. Thank you so much for including me in your special day. It truly was an honor.
