Kate and Aran were married this past week at the Basilica in Baltimore with a killer party at 1840s Ballroom and it was amazing!
The Couple
From the bride:
“Aran and Kate met by swiping right four years ago. Kate asked Aran out for coffee when she found out he was a junior at The Naval Academy, from her home town, and was in need of a date for Ring Dance. Aran and Kate met for coffee right before returning to college for spring semester, Kate was headed back to Salisbury and Aran to The Academy. The date was all of fifteen minutes, before Aran had to head back to Annapolis to make curfew. They quickly made plans to see each other the following weekend, and every weekend after that. Aran and Kate enjoy Orioles Games, running, hiking, deck parties, traveling, and visiting breweries.
Aran asked Kate to marry him at the top of Patterson Park by the Pagoda on April 21, 2017. Kate knew the proposal was coming but did not know when or where. Kate lives one block out of Patterson Park, Aran got an uber to take them to a nice dinner, but the uber only went one block to the outside of Patterson Park. Aran and Kate walked up to the Pagoda, where there is a sign about the gin riots of 1812. Aran was really nervous and realized he did not have anything rehearsed to say, so he started reading the sign to Kate about the gin riots.
“I like gin riots, gin riots are really cool! Don’t you like gin riots? Will you marry me?”-Aran
At this point Aran got down on one knee and asked Kate. Kate could not stop laughing! When she finally had composure she accepted, and with that, Aran snapped the ring box closed and began putting the ring away. Kate quickly reminded him that, that was her ring. Kate’s best friend popped out from behind a tree where she had been taking pictures, and their families surprised them at dinner.”
The Wedding
When there’s rain in the forecast all day on your wedding day and you manage to avoid it ALL day (except, for one point at the end – which you’ll see was totally worth it) that’s pretty magical. Kate and Aran had the perfect day filled with love, laughter, and way too many protein bars. The warmth from these two, their friends and families just felt good. It was one of those days that if we had to repeat it over and over every weekend, we’d really be okay with that! Here are a few of our favorites from a day celebrating the marriage of two pretty amazing humans.

You always have the best reception shots — SO MUCH FUN! I know they’ll look back at these one day and say “look how fun we are!”
There are so many great gems in here… putting the shoes on, the granola bars, the lone tear at the ceremony, the little girl in the mirror… I could go on. So beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous!
These are gorgeous!! I absolutely love her reaction leaving the church, you captured it perfectly!
Those photos in the rain!!! You nailed it!! Also, I’m obsessed with her veil! Congratulations to the newlyweds!!
Oh my goodness…all of the emotions that you captured! Love it so much. The brides face after the sword exit is priceless and I’m basically obsessed with the rain shots….they are amazing!
I am constantly in awe of the raw emotions and moments you capture for every wedding story. And then those night shots…..you’re just the best!
[…] Kate and Aran had a sword arch exit leaving the church after their ceremony at their wedding in May. While Brea was getting the “safe shot” from front and center, I got the silhouette shot laying on the ground in the church. I had to be pretty far back to get the composition I wanted and took several shots from that position. Brea had asked me to try to get the “butt tap” at the end of the arch as well, but to get there I had to bolt around everyone quickly while avoiding her shot. Somehow not only did I get in place and change my settings in time, but I managed to capture the exact moment she reacted. This was a mix of good planning, hustle and lots of luck. […]
