I feel like I’ve been through it all with Kristen and Brian. Their first inquiry email to me came to me at a time when I was questioning myself and the direction my work was going in (ah, the life of a creative). When we met, it was clear that not only were they the perfect fit photographically for what I do, but also they are just two of the kindest and most wonderful people I’ve ever met and I knew I wanted to be the one to capture not just their wedding but their love. For their engagement session we caught the best sunset ever, and then got dinner and drinks at Dave and Busters and had so much fun together. Needless to say, their wedding was the one I was most looking forward to in 2020.
Enter ‘Rona.
Last year, when all of my spring and summer weddings rescheduled, Brian and Kristen called me to see if I would be comfortable still photographing a small ceremony for them. It ended up just being us and their parents in the church, and it was perfect. After the ceremony we went outside to find all of their friends and family in the parking lot with signs, wishing them well. It was beautiful, and a reminder that even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty, love will always prevail.
51 weeks later
Fast forward 51 weeks later and we all gathered, turning the corner of the pandemic, in Brian’s dad’s backyard for a vow renewal and celebration of their love. It also coincided with Kristen’s dad’s 70th birthday and turned out to be quite the birthday bash for Mr. Rick. I loved witnessing so much love and closeness with their families and friends, and friends who are like family. This was an incredible party and well, well worth the wait.
Brian and Kristen, you’re stuck with me for life :) Here are just some of the highlights!
