Kim and Corey‘s wedding this past weekend at the Down Town Club in Philly had it all: happy tears, an amazing venue with a view of the Philadephia skyline, an epic party, and the best couple around.
The Couple
From the bride: “We met through a dating app (Hinge) and dated for a little over two years before getting engaged. We love running through the city together, especially across the Ben Franklin Bridge, going to the theater and various concerts, and, of course, eating wings at a local bar. While living together in an apartment in the Old City neighborhood of Philly, we talked a lot about our visions for our future together. Then Corey planned an elaborate scheme and alibi story to throw me off the scent of the proposal, eventually getting down on one knee in Love Park next to Philly’s City Hall. Our brothers popped out of nowhere to snap some pictures—our “brother paparazzi,” as we called them. We’re so excited to join lives and families as we begin crafting the next phase of our shared journey!”
The Wedding
I knew that Kim and Corey’s wedding was going to be one of the best of the year, and it’s only February! I’ve photographed several weddings from this extended friend group, and it’s always special. With a heavy focus on family, community, heritage, and fun – they have all been some of my favorite weddings, so I went into Saturday with high expectations – and they were exceeded! Kim and Corey are perfect together and the whole day felt magical and unique to them. From Kim whistling (singing?) the MockingJay tune to get Corey to turn around during their first look, to taking photos in their apartment’s gym (Sports Bride!), to the fact that the venue was literally upstairs from their apartment. Everything was intentional, meaningful, and appropriate for the world they’ve built together. I’m so excited to share highlights on the blog today!
