Weddings

Nur and Kevin’s wedding at the Baltimore Museum of Industry this past weekend was SO MUCH FUN! I am excited to share the highlights on the blog today!

The Couple’s Story

Their Beginnings:

We matched on a dating app in 2018, coincidentally on Nur’s birthday. Hence, Kevin will forever be known as Nur’s best birthday present. Nur’s profile had mentioned a love for the grocery store Wegman’s, which inspired the Kevin’s hook that peaked Nur’s interest – a Wegman’s date! The idea was we ride out to the burbs of Baltimore county, asking each other three questions. Based on the answers of those three questions, we would curate a meal from Wegman’s. Nur’s answers truly only left a few options for Kevin in the hot meal section and he finished in maybe ten minutes, with a tray of easy dishes. Meanwhile, Nur took her time to the point Kevin was afraid she had left. Half an hour later, she comes back with an entire basket full of goodies for a Turkish breakfast. The table couldn’t hold everything.

Fast forward a few months to Halloween of 2018, where Kevin knew he was in love. It was the big Halloween party at the Maryland Science center. Kevin was ready to take the next step and introduce Nur to his huge group of friends. He already had a costume in mind – Russell, the wilderness explorer from the Pixar Movie Up. What was the perfect partner in this costume? Kevin, the rainbow colored bird! So Kevin asked Nur “Will you be my Kevin?” Anyway, it was a fun-filled evening! Kevin’s friends immediately loved Nur and were stunned by her bubbly personality. It was on the dance floor, where Kevin witnessed Nur in her free-spirited state, dancing, moving and grooving where Kevin knew she was special…

That was over 6 years ago! In our time since, we’ve traveled the world, endured Nur’s med school and residency training, ate a lot of food and ice cream, and even adopted two beautiful cats.

The Proposal:

When it came to the proposal, Nur already had a feeling given Kevin had taken her to design a ring. Kevin’s plan was to propose on the evening of her birthday (to bring it full circle). He had someone lined up to take a picture of the site in Harbor East looking towards the Dominos sign. Unfortunately, the weather said otherwise. Torrential downpour going sideways derailed that plan. Kevin had to pivot to the following morning. The next morning, the ruse was intended to be a trip to the Fell’s Point Farmer’s Market. We would walk down and pass by the intended spot, Kevin would drop down on one knee, and boom. Now, keep in mind, Kevin had a photographer friend lined up, ready to take a picture of this priceless moment. The problem with the Farmer’s market plan is Nur didn’t have a reason to dress for an engagement. Instead, she comes out of her room in running shorts and a cutoff t-shirt. Knowing this would not cut it, Kevin tried to subtly suggest a different outfit, coming up with an excuse he wanted to share something on social media later.

Nur didn’t bite. Kevin tried to plead. Nur still didn’t oblige.

Kevin then goes into Nur’s clothes and picks out a nice floral skirt, and asks Nur, “Can you please put this on?”

Nur, annoyed and exasperated, “Why!? Are you about to propose to me or something?!”

Kevin curls up into a ball holding up the skirt and cries, “Please will you just put it on!”

Nur is real suspicious at this point, but finally dons on the skirt.

They finally walk out from Nur’s apartment, and walk along the water. As they near the spot, Kevin sees his friend in the bushes, and it’s showtime! Kevin, always the photographer, decides he wants to take a picture, so he precariously sets up his camera such that they can take a picture by the water that just so coincides with the money shot. Kevin pulls Nur to the spot, gets down on one knee, nervously asks “Nur, will you marry me?”

Instead of answering she says “I KNEW IT!”

Kevin responds “I know you knew it!”

Still not answering Kevin, Nur takes the ring and puts it on herself. “Wait, wait, I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work”

Til this day, Kevin still hasn’t gotten a response…

The Wedding

I have been excitedly awaiting Nur and Kevin’s wedding for over a year- I knew it was going to be one of the highlights of 2025 for us. Kevin and Nur are so kind, warm, fun and wonderful. They are a joy to be around and a joy to photograph. I knew this weekend would be special and we’d love our time with them. Their family and friends, miraculously, unfairly, are just as wonderful as they are. I got to spend Friday evening capturing their Tea Ceremony, and got to meet their families and wedding party the night before the big day. Getting to spend that time with everyone made Saturday even more wonderful.

I could gush on and on about how much we love this couple and this family, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Here is just a sampling from Nur and Kevin’s wedding weekend!
