This past Saturday, 5 years after they were married in a Zoom wedding (thanks, covid) Christina and Zach renewed their vows at the Maryland Science Center in a super fun, beautiful, educational and emotional wedding day!

The Couple

From the bride: “My husband Zach and I are both Neuroscientists by training so the MD Science Center is a great fit for us! We met in the same lab, were friends for a bit, and then the chemistry (ha!) sparked a reaction. We were long distance for about 5 years and then Covid brought us back together, oddly enough, when I could teach remotely from Atlanta while he worked in a lab at Georgia State. A position at Georgia Tech opened up and I’ve been there ever since. Our Zoom wedding was in July 2020, and then in July 2023 we welcomed our little Eleanor (Ellie) Maria. Her middle name honors my mom who passed in December 2022 shortly after we told her we were pregnant. At first, my mom was skeptical of the Science Center as a venue, but she absolutely loved the Planetarium and I’m sad she never got to join us for our special day there. On a lighter note, we are a bit on the silly side and enjoy our neurd puns!”

The Wedding

Just a couple of weeks ago, I traveled to Atlanta for Christina and Zach’s engagement shoot at the Georgia Aquarium—and let me tell you, they always pick the coolest spots to celebrate their love. These two are so authentically themselves, and I love that they fully embraced their love of science in planning their wedding!

While most couples might choose the rooftop for cocktail hour to soak in the city views, Christina and Zach opted for something a little more interactive—letting their guests explore the exhibits instead. It made the day feel even more fun, unique, and personal. And right at the heart of it all was their sweet Ellie, sharing every moment by their side.

One of my favorite things about my own wedding is that our kids call it “our wedding”—because it truly was a celebration of us as a family. That same energy was present throughout Christina and Zach’s day. It wasn’t just about the two of them, but about the family they’ve created with Ellie and the community they’ve built with their incredible friends and loved ones. It was such a joy to witness.
