DC Cherry Blossom Festival

April 3, 2013 DC Cherry Blossom Festival

Last weekend I had an engagement session around sunrise at the DC Monuments for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Unfortunately the snow that hit early last week pushed back the date for the blossoms and we were hard pressed to find any blooming trees. I arrived bright (it was still dark) and early to figure out where to park, and got some beautiful shots of the Jefferson Memorial before sunrise.

I’m hoping to find time to go back this weekend and recreate this shot with the cherry blossom tree in bloom.

As usual, when trying to kill time I decided I needed yet another ring shot with my wedding set:

If I make it back this weekend I will try to recreate this one too ;)

The lovely couple that I worked with early in the day requested that I do not share their photos online for privacy reasons. But I still have lots of goodness to share!

We found one tree not too far from the Memorial with some pretty large buds ready to open:

And along Ohio Street we found another with much smaller buds, but some of the flowers were open!

After I finished up with the lovely ladies I met with at sunrise, I met up with my beautiful friend Brandi, her husband Stephen and their lovely lovely lovely baby girl Brooklyn. This was my first time meeting little Miss Brooklyn in person since we live so far away from each other (they came up from VA Beach for the Cherry Blossoms!) and she’s such a sweet baby girl! At first she wasn’t so sure of me, so pictures were a bit of a flop. We all went out for breakfast and returned afterward to give it another shot. The light was super harsh at this point (which is why I recommend sunrise/sunset sessions to all of my clients!) but we still got some cute stuff.

Without further ado, let Miss Brooklyn melt your heart:

Ugh I just love these two!! Isn’t Brandi gorgeous?

The beautiful family!

If you go back this weekend – don’t go in the morning on Sunday. Unless you want photos of runners (like me!!). It’s the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. And dude, this family is stunning and I NEED Brandi’s necklace! It’s so gorgeous!!

Sorry the blooms hadn’t bloomed yet for you. I did hear on the news today they have arrived! Beautiful pictures as usual. I want to take my daughter to DC soon to see all the monuments and landmark!
