Rachel + Tim | Kent Island Engagement Session

August 25, 2015 Rachel + Tim | Kent Island Engagement Session

Friday night’s session out on the water on Kent Island with Tim and Rachel was so much fun. I met some of their family, a very alive and very not thrilled crab, their pup Earl, and these two in person for the first time! We had the most amazing sunset I’ve probably ever photographed. Our time together was an absolute blast and I’m sad that I won’t have them in front of my lens again for almost a year! I can’t wait for their Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Wedding! I love so much about this session, it couldn’t have been more perfect!

We started out getting some photos around the marina and their pup Earl was the perfect model!

Yes, this crab is alive. They had gone crabbing earlier in the day and caught a bunch of crabs that they had for dinner. They kept one live one and cooked the rest. I’ll keep the tricks to photographing him under wraps, he wasn’t thrilled but he was a trooper. After we were done he was rewarded with being released in the water!

After the ring shots on the live crab, I photographed the ring on a cooked crab. I would still flinch when positioning it on this guy even though he was very much so NOT alive. Haha. Rachel and Tim sent me home with some of these delicious cooked crabs and it was awesome. Thanks again, guys!

Just a short walk from the marina was an awesome little inlet and beach. The tide was low and the light was awesome.

Right around sunset we headed out on the boat for a few more shots. It was VERY windy and the waves were a bit intense. These photos were a bit of a challenge to get with us all getting beat around by the waves but I’d say it was well worth the effort.

I”m going to go on record saying that I prefer the live crab ring shots to the cooked ones! Though, both are amazing! Everything about this session is stunning. That sunset is out of this world… and you rocked it on a boat!

These are all so stunning, Brea!! You’re so brave for working with a live crab! I would’ve been flinching too even with the steamed one! Haha. The photos on the boat are my favorite, but I love the one of them standing in the water in Kent Island so much as well!
