Steve and Christina’s bourbon themed wedding at the Elkridge Furnace Inn on Saturday was amazing! I’m so excited to share my favorites from their big day on the blog today.
The Couple
From their wedding website: “Christina and Steve had been playing football together for a while before someone made the first move. Christina gathered some liquid courage, and told Steve how handsome he was on the coldest of Santa Claus Anonymous games. A few days later they went on their first date on December 8, 2014. (Does it count as a date if the guy leaves with his hands in his pockets as quickly as possible?)
They moved in together in May 2016, and Steve became the proud owner of two cats. He slowly won over the cats, but still refuses to call them by their real names.
Christina’s 30th birthday was approaching, and she had been doing a bit of whining about becoming old. Little did she know Steve had some tricks up his sleeve! He threw her a surprise early 30th birthday party where he got all of her friends and family gathered at Woody’s Rum Bar. Just when Christina thought all the surprises where done, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She shook her head vigorously yes, though it is still questionable if she actually said yes.”
The Wedding
This past Saturday (much like so many of our weddings in this VERY wet year) was calling for rain. As a matter of fact, it poured nearly all morning and afternoon. But thankfully, just in time for the ceremony it cleared up and we got to celebrate Steve and Christina’s marriage at the beautiful outdoor ceremony location at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. I loved the little details at their wedding like the bourbon theme with amazing details designed and made by the couple – and the unique grey and yellow color scheme. (Fun fact – the only other time I photographed a grey and yellow wedding was almost exactly 7 years prior, only off by two days, and it was my first ever wedding :)) But what really made this wedding amazing was Steve and Christina. They are sweet, they are down to earth, and they are just incredibly likable people. I also loved that when we took portraits, they just goofed around together the whole time – which makes these photos so uniquely them. There’s a ridiculous amount of personality in all of these photos. In one of the portraits instead of kissing Christina on the forehead, Steve gave her a raspberry. He also head butted her, HARD, for one of the night shots. Hilarious! It was such an awesome day surrounded by truly amazing people. Here are just a few of my favorites from Saturday…
