Jess and Austin’s Toolbox DC Wedding this past weekend was so much fun! They are the sweetest couple and their wedding was a blast!

The Couple

From the bride: “We were friends before we started dating – neither of us was on the kickball team but we were both in a friend group where a lot of people met through kickball. We are still friends with a lot of these people, and they will be at our wedding! We started dating when Austin was in law school and working full-time, and I was working nights and weekends as an ICU nurse.
“Our schedules were super irregular for our first year of dating, but we always made time to see each other (even if it was at 10 pm on a wednesday). Some of our favorite dates were actually these late night dates at a bar/restaurant in Arlington called Ragtime, because the kitchen was open late. I started and ended graduate school while we’ve been together, and Austin supported me throughout what I can honestly say were some of my hardest times to date!

The Proposal

“For our engagement, the day he actually proposed to me was his 3rd attempt – the first 2 attempts were foiled, but at least he was persistent :) He picked me up from a class I took in the morning, and took me to a winery. We drank wine, and listened to some music on the patio and ate all my favorite foods. I had a feeling he’d propose to me because I could tell he’d put some thought and effort into the day. But, a few hours later, we went home and I was thinking “oh, oh well! That was a really fantastic day.”

“We had planned to walk to get dinner in Old Town at a place we hadn’t tried yet, so when we got home I started getting ready to go out. Austin called me into the living room while I was getting ready, and proposed to me in our living room. Looking back on it, I love that he did that because it felt more personal. We went to dinner and celebrated on our own that night, and waited to tell anyone until the next morning :)”

The Wedding

One of the coolest things about this wedding (aside from how awesome Jess and Austin are) is that their event space is actually a pilates studio! We actually got to the area about an hour early on Saturday so we could stop in and take a look at the space, while a pilates class was in session. Seeing it just a few hours later totally transformed was so cool. It’s pretty amazing how versatile the space is and it was perfect for Jess and Austin’s wedding! And the wedding itself was a perfect reflection of them. Laid back and fun, filled with tons of silly and sweet moments, hilarious kiddos, an epic dance party and lots and lots of love. Here are just a few of our favorites!
