Jay and Kevin‘s wedding this past weekend at Stone Manor Country Club was everything I wished for them and more. So much love, so much fun, a beautiful 75 degree day (In NOVEMBER!?!?). I’m so excited to share the highlights on the blog today.

The Couple

From the couple: “Jay & Kevin first met in 2011 doing something they love: singing. Both are part of Potomac Fever, a small ensemble group of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC (GMCW). By creating a capella music, they got to know each other well in weekly rehearsals and regular performances.

While sparks had yet to fly, Jay always admired Kevin’s musical abilities, caring demeanor and good looks–especially his hair! Kevin quietly appreciated Jay’s cool, calm and collected attitude in the midst of many changes in PF, and valued his ideas to make the group ever better. He always had a soft-spot for Jay’s prominent, and adorable dimples! Through GMCW, they had become chorus family and, unbeknownst to them, on their way to becoming a real family.

In the summer of 2015, Kevin & Jay traveled to Cuba with GMCW for performances. During that week of hot Havana nights, they moved beyond just being friends with the help of rum and coke, beautiful vistas, fantastic music and delicious food. There must’ve been something in the air! Since Cuba, Jay & Kevin only grew closer, sharing their love of music, Broadway musicals, cars and more travel adventures. They started spending more time together enjoying museums, day trips and new restaurants while talking about their future as a couple.

The Proposal

In January 2018, Kevin & Jay took a mini road trip to Old Town Alexandria in Virginia, complete with a Broadway show tunes soundtrack! On the way, they made a pit stop at Gravelly Point Park, one of their first date spots. After getting out of the car to look at the stars and stretch their legs, Jay tripped, stumbling onto his knees. The fall was only saved by a tiny box that fell open revealing a ring. At that point, all he could do was propose to Kevin.

The Wedding

I will keep this brief, because I am a much better photographer than I am writer. But Jay and Kevin’s wedding was everything my soul needed after this crazy, crazy year. And it’s ever so fitting that this year’s wedding season is being concluded by such a special day of love for two incredible human beings. I loved everything about this day – from Kevin and Jay helping each other get ready, to their personalized vows with all of the musical references, their sweet and loving families, to their 5 wedding cakes because why just have one!? It was such an honor to capture this day for them. Here are just a few of my favorites.
