Allison + Pat | Wedding at the Belvedere | Baltimore, MD

May 11, 2021 Allison + Pat | Wedding at the Belvedere | Baltimore, MD

This past weekend, Allison and Pat were finally married! The pandemic had them push their date twice, and it was a celebration well worth the wait.

The Couple

How they met

Like all great love stories, Allison and Pat’s began on Tinder. A swipe here, a swipe there. Before these two knew it, they were talking up a storm. Pat telling Allison about his jammed-packed weekend going to the DMV and BJ’s; Allison talking up her volleyball skills and her cool cat, Jackson. It didn’t take long for these two to decide that a proper date was in order.

Pat suggested that they have a “classic high school date” and take a walk in Patterson Park with some ice cream. Allison thought this was cute, and she was game. When Allison and Pat realized that they lived just a block from each other, both thought, “Well, no pressure!”

This first walk through Patterson Park started what is now a weekend tradition. Talking about family, college football, seasonal drinking preferences—Allison and Pat felt a connection, and neither wanted the evening to end. Before saying goodnight, Pat smoothly lined up Date 2 for a few days later by offering to cook Allison dinner. Little did he know that this fulfilled one of Susan Lang’s recommended criteria for a future spouse: Marry a man who makes you laugh and who cooks for you. But little did Allison know that Pat’s culinary skills begin and end with chicken fajitas.

The Engagement

Almost two years after their first date, Pat asked if Allison wanted to have a fancy date night. It had been a busy couple of weeks, he said, so let’s treat ourselves.  Allison looked beautiful, and Pat had his shirt tucked in—it was going to be a great evening. Pat suggested they walk into Fells Point so that they could stroll through the park. He was so nervous and brought a coat—even though it was warm—so that he had somewhere to put the box for the engagement ring. In hindsight, it’s amazing that Allison wasn’t suspicious. Pat led them on a path toward the Pagoda, and once there, told Allison how much he loved her and got down on one knee. It’s a bit of a blur after that, except for the group of girls who yelled, “Oh, did you just get engaged?!?” and were kind enough to take pictures for them. They walked to Rye in Fells and giddily had our first drink as an engaged couple.

The Wedding

Allison and Pat were married at their neighborhood church, within walking distance of their home, with a celebration at the Belvedere with a party to rival the best of 2019! We had a bit of good luck rain that kept us indoors for the entirety of the day. But I can’t think of a better place to be ‘stuck’ indoors than The Belvedere. Originally set for spring of 2020, this was a long-anticipated day, and well worth the wait. Surrounded by so much love, their wonderful families, and enormous groups of friends – I can’t imagine a better way to kick off this new chapter. Congratulations friends! Here are just a few of my favorites.
