Brittney and Ryan’s initial email about their wedding got me super excited – one, it for was a Halloween wedding ON Halloween, two, she said that she had found “The Gomez to [her] Morticia,” and three, they want their guests to show up in costume or dressed like they’re going to a funeral. Halloween weddings are the best, and I’m psyched they chose me to capture it!
When it came time to do engagement photos, they immediately knew they wanted to do them at Bennett’s Curse. It was the coolest, and most creatively challenging shoot I’ve ever done. We navigated the space mostly by flashlight, and each shot is lit with at least two flashes – one (or two) to light them, and one with a colored gel to enhance the scene. Some are composites (multiple frames edited into one) to get the light to fall exactly where it was intended. But mostly what I love about this shoot is how appropriate it is for Brittney and Ryan, who they are, and what they love. I can’t wait to hang with them again and celebrate their love on Halloween!
