Weddings

Nicole and Greg‘s wedding this weekend at The Butterfly Room was so wonderful and we absolutely loved being a part of it.

The Couple

When they first met, Nicole had zero interest in Greg. Over the next few weeks, their paths continued to cross and something (or someone) told her to go for it. She asked a few direct questions, and asked him out on their first date (after of course making sure he wasn’t allergic to cats). That conversation was the start of something solid and easy, the kind of connection that just fits. Before long, Greg had also earned the approval of Saffron, who now shadows him from morning to night and fully claims him as her person.

Their engagement unfolded on a quiet, normal Saturday – pancakes with blueberry compote, coffee, and reading. Realizing it was the 11th (iykyk), Nicole asked if they were going any where special for dinner and Greg said no. “Great – guess I am not getting proposed to today” Nicole said sarcastically. Well, little did she know after a day of baking bread and cooking dinner, Greg snuck upstairs, grabbed the ring he’d been hiding since December, made her favorite cocktail, and got down on one knee. It was the perfect evening, just them (and Saffron), sharing the moment together.

The Wedding

When I first met with Nicole and Greg, I loved chatting with them about their plans for the wedding because everything was being planned intentionally. They wanted to do engagement photos at the same place as their first date – which also had a speakeasy in the back. So we took photos at the actual table where they had their first date, and then took some really classy gorgeous shots in the speakeasy portion of the building.

At the wedding itself, they had those same photos displayed on a gallery wall, specially lit, setting the tone for the evening, lining the walkway for their guests to enter the wedding. Nicole and Greg also really love good food and drink and not only worked with Hoopla for an incredible meal experience for their guests, but also came up with cocktail pairings for the appetizers. Like I said, everything was intentional in creating a beautiful experience that truly celebrated the life they’ve created together.

We even did their first look at a place that was meaningful to Nicole before she and Greg met, and they had a friend create a STUNNING painting for them of that exact spot entitled “The First Look.” They saw the painting for the first time at the end of the gallery wall, at the top of the ramp entering the wedding.

Truly, we loved every minute of spending this day by their sides. I’m thrilled to share the highlights on the blog today!
