Alison and Dan‘s wedding this past weekend at the Baltimore Museum of Industry was perfect and I’m thrilled to share highlights on the blog today!
The Couple
From the bride: “Dan and I met the best way, at a bar. Specifically at Riptide in Fells Point (a very non-classy establishment). For some odd reason, Dan thinks that I “flagged him over,” while I assure him I must have just been gesturing. We talked for a while and then Dan rudely did not offer me a ride home, which he thinks should have been a green flag. :) Our first date was walking around at Light City after going to eat at Sláinte. Dan remembers that Alison was kind and warm, and Alison remembers that Dan was really witty.
“Our third date was at Dave & Busters which is very much up both of our alley’s (Alison’s bridesmaids took her to an arcade for part of her bachelorette and Dan is OBSESSED with skee ball and basketball shot). It was almost our last because Dan was SO into playing basketball shot that when one of Alison’s balls bounced into his lane, he batted it down the aisle and Alison had to run and get it. We’re both quite intense and competitive, so this makes sense in retrospect. However, Alison “let” Dan take her out for happy hour one day the next week near her house and it was such a delightful evening (and Dan is such a great kisser) that she decided to let him stick around.
“We’ve bonded over our love of live music – especially 90s/00s punk rock – and have gone to a ton of music festivals. This is when we feel most “us.” We love playing games together, learning about history, watching sitcoms, and anything that makes us feel like kids. We put together legos, have a zipline in our back yard and do crafts together. We always say that we’re great for each other because we both just love to do things, and we don’t care what we’re doing as long as we’re doing it together. Dan will go to a country concert even though he doesn’t love country music, and Alison will go to the gym with Dan even though exercise is evil. We try to approach everything as true “partners” and maintaining that dynamic is critical for us. We want to be the ones that boost each other up, support in hard times and generally just be each others’ favorite person to be around.”
The Wedding
The forecast for Sunday showed rain all day, and we went into this weekend both bummed if we weren’t able to do outdoor waterfront photos, but okay with that possibility because the indoors of BMI is so dang cool. Thankfully, the weather worked out perfectly and we were able to do all of the above! Alison and Dan really wanted to take full advantage of how cool the museum is both for their photos and the experience for their guests and they did just that. I really loved getting to spend my day with all of these fun and wonderful people. Here are just some of my favorites of our time celebrating Alison and Dan!
