Weddings

Lauren and Mark were married this past Sunday on a lightly drizzly day at Rosewood Farms. Even with the light rain, we were able to do everything perfectly as planned – and if anything, it added a spark of magic to our night shots. I’m so excited to share the highlights on the blog today!

The Couple

From the couple: Like many modern love stories, ours began on a dating app—Facebook Dating, of all places. Mark caught Lauren’s attention with a brief bio describing himself as a firefighter and woodworker. His photo seemed kind and sincere, so she decided to send the first message. (And it’s a good thing she did…because Mark admits he never would have taken a chance on someone who lived 50+ miles away!) Mark was intrigued by a photo of Lauren sitting on top of a mountain peak in Shenandoah, so he replied…

After a few weeks of texting, Lauren suggested meeting for coffee. Mark replied simply, “I don’t drink coffee,” which Lauren took as a polite brush-off…until he followed it up a few minutes later (which seemed like an eternity to her) with, “But I’d like to take you to dinner.”

They met at Tidewater Grille in Havre de Grace, a perfect halfway point between their homes, and conversation came easily from the start. One dinner turned into many, and before long they were bonding over a love of nature, shared family values, similar childhood memories, and their affinity for planning and being very detail-oriented…

Soon, Mark met Lauren’s sweet-but-sometimes-wild Irish Setter, Lucky. Despite not being much of a dog person, Mark and Lucky quickly bonded and the three of us often enjoy hikes, adventure walks, and lots of time outdoors.

The moment of truth for Mark came when he shared what he is most proud of—the cabin he built in the mountains with his own two hands. He was thrilled that Lauren fully embraced the quiet weekends in the woods with no cell service!

It was during our New Year’s trip to the cabin where Mark proposed. After getting Lauren’s dad’s blessing months before, Mark planned a romantic drive to Penn’s View Overlook in Bald Eagle State Forest, which is where we went on one of our first hikes. With a breathtaking view from the top of the mountain and snow flurries falling around them, Mark asked Lauren to spend forever with him…and she didn’t hesitate to say, “Yes!”

Somewhere between the mountains and the suburbs, campfires and cabin trips, and lots of adventuring with a dog named Lucky, a “city girl” and a “country boy” fell in love.

The Wedding

Lauren and Mark’s wedding at Rosewood Farms was such a joy to be a part of. Lauren and I met (mumble mumble) years ago in middle school orchestra, and she’s been following my work on social media since the very beginning. I was really, really thrilled when she reached out early in their wedding planning to make sure I could be a part of it.

Lauren is such a joyful, wonderful person, and on her wedding day that was amplified to the max. From her first look with Mark to singing, and dancing with their friends at the reception, she radiated joy all day. We loved every being the ones to capture every moment.

Her parents are also the sweetest, kindest people, and seeing them love their daughter so loudly and deeply, made for some of my favorite moments of the day. Between those moments, Lauren and Mark’s excitement, and a wedding party that brought plenty of energy, there was so much to love and photograph. I’m excited to share some of my favorites!
