Sarah + Travis | North Dakota Wedding

October 23, 2013 Sarah + Travis | North Dakota Wedding

This weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to Minot, North Dakota to watch my first friend marry the love of her life. Sarah and I met when we were practically babies when our parents lived in the same apartment complex. We were inseparable. At the young age of three we were separated as Sarah and her family moved back to North Dakota, where they were originally from. I’m sure in most cases, the story would end there… but not for us! As soon as we were old enough to read and write, we would write each other letters and send photos. Every year Sarah’s school photo would go on my mom’s fridge and we would write every few months. Once the Facebook era hit, our handwritten notes turned into facebook messages and wall posts. When Steve and I announced our engagement on facebook, Sarah was one of the first to congratulate me and said that she would come to Baltimore for our wedding! Although we got married in Hawaii, we had a party back in Maryland and sure enough, Sarah and her lovely mama Pam made the trip to come see us. While she was visiting Sarah said that her and Travis had been looking at rings and she expected a proposal soon. She got home and right away it was made official– they were engaged! Fast forward two years and now *I* get to travel across the country to celebrate my first friend’s marriage :)

Sarah and Travis had a beautiful (freezing cold) fall wedding day surrounded by an incredible group of friends and family. It was amazing being a part of it and I am so happy for them!

I started off the day with Sarah and her girls at the Hyatt House hotel for details and getting ready. Sarah had the prettiest garter– from Etsy!

love her dress! It was SO big and heavy but absolutely stunning.

Once Sarah was dressed I met Travis and the guys at the Scandinavian Heritage Park for some photos while we waited for Sarah to arrive for the first look! Her brother Chris (far left) was a baby the last time I saw him.

Their first look was very sweet. Travis turned around and said “Whoa.” She literally took his breath away.

It was SO cold! All of that dress was good for keeping Sarah warm ;)

Such a fun group of people!

I am totally obsessed with all of these bridals of Sarah!

Even her baby Eva joined in for a few :)

Here I had Travis shaking the tree to try and get the leaves to fall…

…one fell and landed in the perfect spot!

Travis didn’t look too bad himself. Though I won’t include as many pictures of him because, let’s face it, Sarah’s prettier ;)

The park made for a lovely location for their portraits! I love all of these!

We headed to Sarah’s grandmother’s house which was right by the church for a few more shots of the bride and groom. I had Pam jump in for a few. I love these ladies!

Pam made sure that I got in one with the beautiful bride too :)

This whole series just rocks my socks.

Their ceremony was truly lovely with many beautiful personal touches.

Cutest programs ever? Yes.

Their reception was adorned with the most perfect fall decorations!

I did my first ever same day slideshow for their wedding. It didn’t take very long to put together and I got a ton of great feedback on it! I will definitely be doing this again :)

In addition to their delicious cake they also had mini pies! I might have had a couple of the mini pumpkin pies… I’m such a sucker for pumpkin.

I love that whenever a bride says “no smashing” it never goes that way ;)

After dinner we had great speeches from the best man and maid of honor…

Followed by several special dances…

Pam and Sarah made me cry… I was hoping it would go unnoticed but of course the DJ called me out on it.

Once the DJ got the dance floor going it was quite the party and a lot of fun! There aren’t too many photos of dancing because I put my camera down and joined in. :)

And to round off the post– my new favorite ring shots!

Sarah + Travis,

It was SO amazing being a part of your big day and I couldn’t imagine not being there for you. Love you!

Brea

Sarah you are an absolutely gorgeous bride!! The first look pictures had me tearing up, so glad you found your special man! All your bridal pictures are just stunning and had me reaching for a tissue. But it is the mother and daughter dance that do me in every time I look at them <3 I am so glad Breanna was there for your wedding and captured it so beautifully for you, and for us who couldn't be there with you!
