Meet Valerie | Photography by Brea Intern!

August 26, 2014 Meet Valerie | Photography by Brea Intern!

Over the last couple of years I’ve gotten a few emails from students both in high school and college looking for a photographer to intern with. It wasn’t until this year when I heard from Valerie that I ever really entertained the thought. One of my passions is teaching, and I’ve been teaching at the college level for almost 5 years now, and I thought it would be fun to combine my two passions and take on an intern through this spring and summer! From the first interview with Valerie, I knew she would be a good fit. She reminds me so much of me at her age.

Over the last six months Valerie has been to 16 weddings (with one more to go this weekend!), a couple of engagement sessions and a few days in the office. Last week I had her come by for some editing practice and to get her in front of the camera! Having Valerie along for the last 6 months has been an awesome learning experience for both of us and I look forward to being able to have more interns in the future!

Not only is this girl an incredibly talented budding photographer, but she’s gorgeous too! This was the easiest head shot session I’ve ever done!

And to close out the post, a little something from Valerie:

It makes me sad to come to the realization that my internship with Brea is coming to an end. The experience I had was greater than I could have ever imagined. I have always known that I wanted to pursue wedding photography in my future, but this internship strengthened that drive. My favorite part of wedding days, is the amount of beauty, emotion, and love that they are full of. I found myself with a never ending smile upon my face during each wedding I attended. I am so thankful for Brea, as I feel that though I have a ways to go still, I have come so far in such a short period of time. Brea has taught me so much, from equipment knowledge and endless amounts of skills, to wedding etiquette and dance moves. I feel much more confident in my work, and am so excited to to take my first steps into my future in wedding photography. Brea is someone whom I plan to never lose contact with, her friendly and bubbly personality is contagious, and her skills and knowledge create breathtaking images.  I can not thank her enough for her generosity, as she took me under her wing to build me up, and allow my dreams to come true and future to unfold. xoxo.

Thank you Valerie for being such an awesome intern and thanks to all of my couples who allowed her to be a part of their day!
