October 25, 2023 Casey + Jonathan | Birkby House Wedding Photos | Leesburg, VA
This past Friday Casey and Jonathan were married at Birkby House in Leesburg, VA. We had the best time celebrating alongside them and I’m excited to share the photos today!
The Couple
From the couple: “Jonathan and Casey found each other in the great city of Baltimore, MD. They first connected on a date to the Guinness Brewery and dinner in Fells Point. After that, it was off to the races! Come to find out, the couple likely crossed paths many times in their childhood and high school years in Annapolis. Jonathan and Casey both frequented spots in downtown Annapolis and both attended Zany Brainy story time – who knew! The pair quickly met many milestones in their relationship… starting graduate school, getting a dog (Beane), and moving in together after 5 short, whirlwind months. Jonathan and Casey had no idea that they would be enjoying each other’s company 24/7 when March, 2020 struck. This experience was filled with ups and downs but strengthened their love for each other.”
The Proposal
From the groom: “Welp this is a funny one. So there it is, the picture perfect proposal. The plan was to pop the question during Memorial Day weekend. We were already planning to go to the beach with Casey’s family for the weekend and she was none the wiser. So with the help of my soon-to-be mother-in-law, we began devising the proposal. The plan was to take Casey out to dinner and go for a walk on the beach. Both of our families would already be there and I would ask her to marry me as the the sun set. Something straight out of a Hallmark movie! But what’s a Hallmark movie without a little bit of drama or tragedy? Our plot twist was Covid… shocker right? We had been the pinnacle of safety the entire pandemic…regular tests, masks, and then boom two days before we leave and I tested positive. Great start right? Since Casey wasn’t sick and there was no reason to ruin her holiday weekend. The problem was my family was still going to the beach. She’d likely see them so the secret was out. It wasn’t her fault that she wasn’t getting her ring that weekend so I decided to tell her about my beautiful plan on her way out the door. End of story, right? Not even close… So I go to show her the ring so she could see even though she wasn’t getting it at that moment. To make the plot even thicker, the safe that was keeping the ring safe doesn’t open. I mean Spike Lee couldn’t write a better story line. Delirious from Covid and panicking on getting this safe open to show her the ring, I sent her on her way. Not even five minutes later that safe opened, hallelujah! As you can imagine I’m as tired about this ordeal as you are of reading this.
“So quick wrap-up, the next week we had planned to go to dinner in downtown Annapolis. Our parents met us on the docks and I proposed to her in the place where our paths have probably crossed a million times before that day. And roll credits… Marvel post credits extra scene: Casey knew she was getting the ring that day after all… Casey had originally made the online reservation for the two of us, and thought it was a regular date night. Her mom had called the restaurant to sneakily add our parents to the reservation. Casey ended up getting a confirmation saying there would be six people not two at dinner on our drive to Annapolis (but she kept it to herself). Thanks Open Table! Trust me when I say my vows won’t be this long. ‘Fade to black, house lights on'”
The Wedding
As it seems is the theme of 2023, there were bouts of rain on Friday, so you’ll notice some umbrellas in the photos here. But what you’ll also notice is that it didn’t bring down the excitement one bit. Casey and Jonathan, their friends and family had the best energy and we had so much fun all day alongside them.
