May 17, 2013 Ch-ch-ch-changes
Earlier this week on Facebook I announced that I was finally taking the leap and quitting my full time job and going full time with my business. I had made the decision that May was going to be my last month at Hopkins close to two months before actually resigning. I was a little nervous, but as often happens when you make the right decision, things started falling into place proving to me that yes, this is the right move, and more importantly, the right time.
Between getting an amazing deal on the construction of my office–which I wouldn’t have been able to afford right now otherwise, having a few job offers (both for amazing places, it was an agonizing decision), and booking my 25th wedding for 2013, everything was falling into place and I was sure that this was the right move. In addition to quitting my full time job, I have accepted an offer to teach on a part time basis at a technical college for video production, which I am very excited about.
I am greatly looking forward to being able to really focus more time and energy into my business and being able to offer more weekday availability for sessions and client meetings. I have really loved teaching at Towson University for the last 3 years (this semester was the best yet!) and I couldn’t be more excited about getting the opportunity to expand my impact as a teacher and prepare even more students for their careers in an industry that I love. But mostly, I’m looking forward to getting my life back and spending more time with my husband. For longer than I can remember I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, working full time, as well as nights and weekends and I’m ready to reclaim my life a bit. By having more time to rest and dedicate to myself, I’ll be able to give my all to my clients and my students–and they deserve nothing less.
And to end this post, a small preview a la instagram of my beautiful new office! It’s not finished yet, but once it is I’ll have a post dedicated to its unveiling complete with lots of pictures :)
