Nikki and Jake’s Overhills Mansion wedding this past Saturday was the epitome of fun and love. An incredible celebration for an incredible couple!
The Couple
Nikki and Jake are college sweethearts, and were each others’ first friend when they got to Bowdoin ten years ago. That friendship quickly deepened and they both say enthusiastically that they were best friends from the start.
Jake says, “What has made our relationship so special is that despite the fact we have been dating for over 9 years, the friendship we formed during our first semester in college has lasted even longer. As bad as my jokes are, we are smiling every time we spend time together. I am excited that we will not only be husband and wife, but best friends for the rest of our lives.”
Nikki says, “He knows exactly what I need when I need it, and always knows exactly what to say and when to say it. He’s my best friend, and I can’t imagine a world without him. He’s kind, gentle, loving, smart, and compassionate. But best of all, he’s my perfect balance in this world, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.”
Jacob proposed to Nikki on the Ocean Path in Acadia National Park in Maine at a quiet spot on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
The Wedding
One of the wonderful things about doing engagement sessions with our couples before their wedding is that we get a chance to get a feel for who they are. Going into Nikki and Jake’s wedding on Saturday we knew we were in for a treat with two really kind, laid back, fun people. What we didn’t know ahead of time, and was such a wonderful treat, is how amazing, wonderful, and hilarious their families are as well.
Tommy texted me while he was with the guys for getting ready saying “I’m a big fan of Jake, he’s such a good dude.” Meanwhile, I’m laughing my ass off with Nikki, her mom, and her sisters, while they’re calling her Gollum (had to be there) and helping her get dressed. The outpouring of love from their family and friends was truly beautiful to witness and capture. Here’s just a small sampling of our favorites.
