Brooke and Brian are special beautiful perfect angel humans and this past weekend celebrating them and their love was beyond perfect.

The Couple

Brooke and Brian have been together since they were actual literal babies. Okay, maybe not literal babies. But teenage babies. Eight years later, they are still as obsessed with each other as those children living on cloud 9 were back in Ocean City.

“On New Year’s Eve 2019, after spending the day at the American Visionary Art Museum (Brooke’s favorite), Brian proposed to Brooke on the Fell’s Point Pier with Chrissy, Ivan, Betty, & Courtney (who stalked and surprised us to witness the proposal!). When Brian asked, “Brooke Marie Danger Boyd, will you marry me?”, Brooke was crying so hard that all she could eventually muster out was “OF COURSE!”. They are thrilled to share this lifetime together and to have the gift of each other. In Brooke’s words…”Eeeek!””

Last year, Brooke and Brian unexpectedly eloped in Brooke’s Gram’s living room. Her health started slipping in the middle of the summer last year, and they quickly made the decision to do a little ceremony just for her and a few choice witnesses since she wouldn’t be able to be a part of their planned wedding a year later. I feel so fortunate that I got to meet this beautiful woman who loved Brooke and Brian so much, and capture them sharing their new beginnings with her.

The Wedding

How do I even begin to capture what these people and this weekend mean to me in words? Good thing I’m a better photographer than I am writer, because I am truly at a loss. Brooke has been a part of my life for the last 3 years. She’s been to dozens of weddings with me, and as I’m sure many of you know, working with people can bring you close. Well, working weddings with people makes you family. Brooke is one of my closest friends and I still don’t know how I got so lucky to have such a beautiful person in my life.

When you love your friends, you want the best for them. Well, I don’t need to worry about that with Brooke. In Brian she has better than the best. She has perfection. There is no one who will ever love Brooke more than Brian, and there is no one who will ever love Brian more than Brooke. Not only are they crazy in love – still – after all this time. But it’s a deep, mature, real love. They’ve been through a lot of life in the last eight years, and I have no doubt that they will be able to weather everything that life throws at them over the next eighty and still be as deeply in love as they are today.

This weekend fifty of their closest friends and family gathered at a gorgeous state park in the woodsy mountains of West Virginia for a weekend getaway. We played lawn games, we drank, we danced, we hugged… a lot, we laughed, we cried (happy tears only, obv.), we ate yummy food, and we were surrounded by SO much love all weekend. It was a joy. And I am so thankful for my love Jonathan for coming along and allowing me to put the camera down and be present and celebrate my loves at the end of the night.
