Ricky and Emily’s Mt. Washington Mill Dye House wedding this past weekend was a very special one for me – as I’ve been there for them every step of the way, from the proposal through to the wedding day itself! I’ve really come to adore these two and it was such an honor to be by their side on their big day!
The Couple
“We can thank Hinge (dating app) for the introduction. After exchanging some messages back and forth, we agreed to meet for drinks at Rye Street Tavern. Ricky will tell you that Emily was 10 minutes late to the first date, and Emily will tell you that there was no parking to be found near the restaurant! Despite the late arrival, we never looked back. Ricky is fond of saying that he is 1 for 1 on Hinge, while Emily is not :).
“2020 was full of grand plans of an international proposal before COVID showed up. But, Ricky was still determined to surprise Emily. So, just three weeks into quarantine, desperate for a change of scenery, he suggested getting out of the house for a hike. Little did she know, this wasn’t just a simple hike to our favorite park in Baltimore, Lake Roland. A couple miles in, we finally got to ‘our’ spot, a small creek under a bridge. With Wally off swimming in the creek, Ricky got down on one knee and said some nice things, while Emily worked to register what was happening, and the rest is history.”
The Wedding
Emily and Ricky’s wedding this past weekend was absolutely perfect. In the way that imperfectly perfect things often are. We had crazy ridiculous storms on and off all day – but we were still able to do their first look outside just before it started pouring, we were able to get all of their portraits done without feeling rushed, we were able to avoid the 100+ degree heat of the earlier part of the day, and all the time we spent outside was after the rain had cooled things off quite a bit. In short, it all worked out PERFECTLY.
I love that since the girls had their hair and makeup finished already by the time I arrived that they decided to play Salad Bowl until it was time to get dressed. We all cried (me included) LOTS of happy tears throughout the day. And the dance party was absolutely epic. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better day for these two and I’m so happy we were able to be there to capture it all. Here are just a few of my favorites!
